Aggression and tensions as Sadiq Khan opponents gather at London balloon launch
  • 6 years ago
A giant balloon in the form of Mayor of London Sadiq Khan flies over London in response to the Donald Trump baby balloon which took flight in July during the US president's visit after Khan granted permission.

Tensions ran high as opponents of Khan said he's "not our Mayor" and he "doesn't look after the British people", while others gathered nearby swore liberally at perceived opponents.

The nine-foot balloon depicts Khan wearing a yellow bikini. A crowdfunder raised £59,452 for the inflatable. The excess funds will be used for "a continuing campaign to remove Sadiq Kjan from office," according to organiser Yanny Bruere.

Bruere's crowdfunder also attributes responsibility for crime in the capital to the mayor. "Under Sadiq Khan, we have seen crime sky rocket to unprecedented levels. People in London don't feel safe and they aren't safe, 81 murders this year alone!"

Khan has taken the balloon with good humour. "If people want to spend their Saturday looking at me in a yellow bikini they're welcome to do so," said Khan.

"I don't really think yellow's my colour though."
