Why Black Breastfeeding Week Is Important

For over 40 years there has been a gaping racial disparity in breastfeeding rates, with 75% of white women having breastfed compared to only 59% of black women. Black Breastfeeding Week has been created to raise awareness of the disparity and promote breastfeeding among black women.
