Strong winds from Typhoon Soulik lashed the southern Japanese island of Kikaijima on August 21.Soulik wreaked havoc in different parts of Ryukyu Islands, causing damage and knocking out power in the city of Amami, on the island of Amami Oshima, and prompting evacuation preparation information to be issued to 6,702 households and 12,551 people in Yakushima.Two strong typhoons are threatening Japan this week. Typhoon Soulik is expected to move northwest off Kyushu on Wednesday morning, August 22, before making landfall in South Korea the following day.
