Day 2 of war-torn family reunions over with only 1 day left

이산가족 상봉 둘째날 종료... 이제 단 하루 남겨

Families from South and North, divided by the Korean War...are together for the first time in almost 7 decades.
Heartwrenching scenes at Mount Kumgang for these very elderly men and women... who know they'll probably never see each other again.
Today they're getting a little more private time together.
Oh Jung-hee is covering the event for us this week.
Jung-hee, what have we seen so far today, and what's left on the schedule for this round of reunions?

Daniel, day two of the three-day-long family reunions has come to an end... and the families spent a total of 5 hours together today.
This morning, the families had three hours of private time in their rooms... and met each other once more for two hours at a group session, which ended an hour ago.
Right now, the South Korean families are eating dinner by themselves, without their North Korean relatives.

We are hearing from South Korea's joint press pool there at North Korea's Mount Kumgang... that the families were mingling much more naturally... and the overall atmosphere was much brighter than at the first group reunion yesterday.
When they met each other for the first time yesterday, there some families appeared to feel pretty awkward... seeing each other after 70 years of no contact.
But through this morning's private session, it seems the South and North Korean families have gotten much closer.
Some told the reporters there that they had so much fun at the private session,... speaking candidly about their past and exchanging photos.

Families were eager to make the most out of the two-hour public session -- chatting and laughing... and taking pictures.
It was only their third time together, but they opened up to each other, expressing love and also regret.
A brother would tell his younger brother that he's sorry for leaving him alone when he sought refuge during the war.
A sister would tell her younger brother 'I love you,' and say she still can't believe she's seeing her brother for real, right in front of her.

But behind this happy and bright atmosphere, some participants were disappointed... because their family members from the other side of the border had to rest in their rooms due to their advanced age.
Others were sad that they don't have much time left to spend together... and that the time given to them is just too short.

Daniel, two days out of the three-day-long family reunion have gone by so quickly... and to the people meeting their loved ones up there at Mount Kumgang -- they must feel that way even more than we do.
Now, the divided families have only one more session, and only two more hours, to be with each other tomorrow.
And the South Korean families will be leaving North Korea in the early afternoon.
Daniel.
