Commuters left in darkness as power outage hits Reagan National Airport

Reagan National Airport experienced a power outage on Wednesday night (August 16), leaving commuters in darkness and affecting air traffic control.

The airport tweeted about the outage shortly before 10 p.m.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said a Dominion Energy issue had caused the outage and the airport authority was working with Dominion to get power restored.

All flights were put on hold, but authorities said most flights for the night had taken off and there should not be a major disruption to schedules.
