Following along the footsteps of our previous showcase for Michael Savoie, we get a closer look at another winner from the 2014 BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® Artisan Series, Ti-Rock Moore.
Hailing from the French Quarter area of New Orleans, Louisiana, Ti-Rock Moore (an ode to 1960′s French Quarter artist Noel Rockmore) explains her art as an expression of activism. Her controversial pieces have included imagery of white privilege, racism, and injustice that she has encountered recently, including incidents surrounding Hurricane Katrina. The 55-year-old artist explains that winning the prestigious award granted not only accolade towards her achievements but also towards her message. Therefore, her “Phoenix” mural is one of great importance in encapsulating her passion and way of thinking towards racism.
Voting continues on for the 2015 BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® Artisan Series and time is running out to pick the people’s choice finalists and send two artists to exhibit at SCOPE Miami Beach. Be sure to visit BombayArtisan.com for official rules and to vote on this year’s entries through November 9.
