The Karnataka civic body has come up with a new scheme for waste management and in fact produce energy from the waste. BBMP has signed a memorandum of understanding with a French company to set up a waste to energy plant at the cost of 200 crore rupees which is said to generate energy from 1000 tonnes of waste generated per day. The tender is expected to be floated in August. Meanwhile, experts believe that the kind of waste produced in Bengaluru is one of the main reasons why such plant will terribly fail. The major concern is that Bengaluru produce 60 % of wet waste due to which experts feel that the policy is bound to fail.
