Lawsuit Against Trump For Constitutional Violations Allowed To Proceed

CNN reported that a federal judge in Maryland has ruled that the lawsuit alleging that U.S. President Donald Trump, the Trump International Hotel, and the Trump Organization violated the Constitution's emoluments clause can move forward. In his opinion, Judge Peter Messitte of the US District Court of Maryland sided with Maryland and Washington, DC's definition of emolument as an "advantage." Trump's attornies were arguing for a more restrictive definition of the term as a "gift." Maryland and Washington, DC, have argued that the Trump International Hotels received special tax concessions.
