Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon orders formation of emergency team in disaster-hit Laos

In the wake of the deadly dam disaster in Laos, South Korea's Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon has ordered the launch of an emergency countermeasure team on the ground, led by the Korean envoy to Laos, Shin Sung-soon.
Prime Minister Lee, who is currently on a trip to Oman,... called on officials to check on the safety of South Korean nationals who might have been in the area and to prioritize efforts aimed at minimizing the loss of more lives.
Lee also urged the local emergency countermeasure team to support SK Engineering and Construction's rescue and restoration efforts.
The South Korean government also convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss ways to help those affected by the disaster.
