South Korea's defense and justice ministries are forming a joint investigation team into the snowballing allegations about the military intel unit's illegal attempts to interfere in domestic politics during the previous Park Geun-hye administration.
In a joint statement released on Monday,... the ministers of the two ministries said the decision to step up the probe into the Defense Security Command was made considering the public's mounting suspicions about the matter.
Military prosecutors are already looking into the case,.. but the ministers said a joint probe is necessary as many of the key figures are civilians so they'd have to be investigated by civilian prosecutors.
This comes after recently-discovered documents suggested the DSC was considering the use of force to quell the massive candlelight rallies against former president Park.
