Rudy Giuliani is the former mayor of New York City and one of president Trump’s attorneys — but how did he get to where he is today?
Born in 1944 in Brooklyn, Giuliani garnered an early love for politics. He attended Manhattan College and went on to NYU Law School, later graduating as a staunch Democrat. He became a committee member to the Democratic Party in Long Island and later joined the United States Attorney’s Office in New York.

Wanting to move even further into the political realm, he moved to D.C., dropped his Democratic affiliation, and got a job working for Gerald Ford. When Reagan became president, he switched from being an Independent to a full Republican, though his mother claimed he only did so “after he began to get all these jobs” in 2007.

Giuliani ran for mayor in 1989, but lost to David Dinkins. However, he got his shot at mayor in 1993 and was re-elected again in 1997. He was also widely praised for his action after the 9/11 attacks — becoming Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.

He went on to endorse Donald Trump for president, and has been at his side since. He joined Trump’s legal team, and has been advising him on how to handle Robert Mueller’s investigation, while also letting slip to the press that his former attorney Michael Cohen most definitely paid off Stormy Daniels.
