US Authorities Investigating Uber Over Gender Discrimination Ride-hailing firm Uber is being investigated by U.S. authorities over a complaint about
gender discrimination. The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission began investigating Uber in
August 2017. Its seeking information related to hiring practices, pay disparity and other matters as they relate to gender. Under new CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber has overhauled its hiring, review and compensation practices but continues to face problems. In May a former software engineer sued the company over sexual harassment, race discrimination and other claims. Uber's HR chief Liane Hornsey also resigned following an investigation into how she handled allegations of racial discrimination.
