Chhattisgarh 3 tribal girls raped in Jashpur; 3 accused men from Remne fined Rs 10,000 each

In a bizarre case of providing justice to three rape survivors, a panchayat in tribal Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh told the parents of the victims not to report the matter to the police but instead hold a feast with the money collected from the rapists. After imposing a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the 3 rapists who hailed from the remne village, the Panchayat then arranged a feast and distributed the money left over among 45 people of the community. The aggrieved parents claim that the panchayat had done them injustice instead of complaining to the police. The Panchayat had forced them to compromise and organised a feast with fine. The local police are currently investigating the case.
