Atli, accusé d'adultère par sa femme, est forcé d’emménager chez ses parents. Il se retrouve malgré lui plongé au sein d'une querelle de voisinage, dont le déclencheur est l'ombre imposante d'un arbre entre les deux maisons. Leur banal conflit se transforme en guerre sans pitié.
