Occurred on June 5, 2018 / Canmore, Alberta, Canada
Info from Licensor: "Myself and my wife are from Australia, but have been living in Canada since September 2017. We were going on our 2nd big hike ever in Canmore, at East End of Rundle. So we started hiking. We were only about 5 mins into the hike when i got puffed, so I stopped to catch my breath. I looked up and saw something coming down the path towards us. It took a while for it to sink in that it was actually a bear. I couldn't believe it. I called out "Guys" and they could tell by the tone of my voice that something was wrong. When they looked up, they saw the big grizzly bear walking straight towards them. They slowly backed up and I walked forward to get in front of them. I had my bear spray out and ready. We all backed up slowly and talked to the bear calmly. At first he was about 2-3 metres away from us, and he just kept walking straight towards us. He was not stopping or going around. We just kept backing up down the trail. After about 40 seconds, we were able to gain some space by walking backwards and it was then I started recording. The bear then walked around us and then joined the path again."
