SWITZERLAND — A Zurich-based architecture firm has designed a Swiss school with a rooftop covered in solar panels.

The self-sufficient solar-powered school, located in Switzerland, produces enough solar energy to also power 50 homes.

The school has around 1,100 solar panels with the buildings connected with a zigzag roof Inhabitat reports.

The building was made by using sustainably sourced tinder and wood. The self-sufficient school covers an area of more than 180,000 square feet.

The interior of the building is filled with light because of the number of windows and also because of light generated from solar power.

According to DesignBoom, the ground floor would be spacious enough to conduct different learning activities for children.

Each classroom would look like a little house because of the folded rooftops, creating a cozy atmosphere, reports Inhabitat.
