Shocking footage filmed by a spectator of the fight between the Asutralian and Philippines basketball teams during a match yesterday (Mon) evening in Bulcan, Philippines. Tensions boiled over with four minutes remaining in the third quarter of the FIBA World Cup qualifying clash, with players and officials from both sides, plus a number of unruly fans, flooding the court in disgusting scenes of violence. Thirteen players were sent off after the shameful fight which shocked the sporting world and drew wide-spread condemnation. The brawl came with about four minutes to play in the third period, when the Aussie Boomers were leading 79-48 against the Filipino Gilas. Chris Goulding was elbowed in the face, then shoulder charged in the midsection. That led to Kickert throwing an elbow at the Philippines’ Roger Ray Pogoy, with both teams then getting engaged in a violent altercation. After the game, Philippines head coach, Chot Reyes, referred to an altercation during warmups, but his description doesn’t completely match the facts at hand.
