Can Aspirin Help Reduce The Risk Of Alzheimer’s?

A new study on UPI.com says daily low doses of aspirin may help reduce the effects of Alzheimer's disease. Researchers at Rush University Medical Center say aspirin decreases plaques in the brain that are leading mechanisms in dementia and memory loss. Kalipada Pahan, chair of neurology and professor of neurological sciences, biochemistry and pharmacology at Rush Medical College, says, "The results of our study identifies a possible new role for one of the most widely used, common, over-the-counter medications in the world." The exact cause of Alzheimer's is currently not known, but poor disposal of the toxic protein amyloid beta in the brain is a leading factor.
