Ever imagined what lurks in the depths of the deep blue sea? The ocean extends up to depths of almost 8km. These depths are home to some of the most peculiar and hostile sea creatures beyond anyone's imagination. These creatures are so terrible looking that a mere sight of them can leave you with sleepless nights. These animals are least studied because it’s difficult to reach out to these depths and document them.
The deep-sea anglerfish is one of such deep-sea creatures which is one of the scariest deep-sea animals ever seen. Let us now discuss more about this wonderful creature.

This is one of the most grotesque looking fish in the deep sea.
It carries a scientific name of Melanocetus Johnson and is one of the most well-known creatures of the deep.
It gets its name all thanks to its Doral spine which is elongated which has a light emitting organ called as the photophore.
The lighting action is a result of a chemical reaction which is referred to as bioluminescence, a process which allows the photophore to emit a blue-green color light just as how a firefly does.
The killer fish uses the photophore as a bait to catch its prey.
The common anglerfish has a rounded body which is like that of a basketball and it sometimes looks like it could gulp one.
This terror creature has a rather large mouth which comes loaded with hundreds of sharp teeth which are fang-like in appearance.
Despite its rather devil-like appearance, the Deep-Sea Anglerfish is a minuscule fish which can reach a maximum full-grown length of just 12 centimeters.
It has very soft flesh and bones and comes with very small eyes.
