'Halo' TV Series To Be Showtime's 'Most Ambitious Show Ever' Showtime announced that it has ordered a 10-episode first season of the show.
The concept of a show based on the popular video game has been in development for years.
"The Rise of the Planet of the Apes," director, Rupert Wyatt, is slated to direct multiple episodes.
Set in the future, the series will follow the conflict between the human race and an alien threat called the Covenant.
The Hollywood Reporter said production will start in early 2019.
Steven Spielberg's production company, Amblin Television, will produce the series.
Showtime and Microsoft/343 Industries will also produce.
First released in 2001, "Halo" is Microsoft's biggest video game franchise.
