The Dirham (Turkish Seljuq Dynasty Silver Coin) of Rukn al-Din Qilij Arslan IV (r.1248-1264). Minted at Sivas A.H.646/A.D.1248-49, 2.85 g / 22.0 mm. Figures on the obverse field: A Crescent and a Turkish cavalry figure depicting the authentic Turkish speed shooting method based on loading the bow with arrows held in the hand that pulls the string. Inscriptions on the obverse margin; Arabic: “El Sultan el azam Rükn el dünya veldin Kılıçarslan bin Keyhüsrev kasim emir el müminin.” English Translation: “The Greatest Sultan, the main pillar of religion and the world, Kılıçarslan bin Kay Khusraw, the partner of the Emir of the Faithful.” Inscriptions on the reverse; Arabic: “El imam el Mustasim billah, emir el müminin.”/ “Sene site ve arbain ve sittemiye, durube haza el dirhem bi Sivas” English Translation: “The Emir of the faithful, Imam Mustasim billâh.”/ “This dirham was struck in Sivas in the year 646.”
