Ban on plastic and thermocol in Maharashtra; Rs 5000 fine for first time offenders

Maharashtra government’s plastic ban will be imposed from today. This means that people seen with or selling the banned items will have to face hefty fines. With the move now in full swing, the next aspect we need to focus on is what are the alternatives? Let’s face it, people across India are used to plastic items, be it polythene bags or cutlery. But with the Maharashtra government now taking the much needed step, the state needs to focus on what's going to replace plastic.
