A native of the Balcanian Mountains, Turkish Empire. A print depicting mounted figures in Turkish costumes, drawn by artist William Allan (1782-1850), published by John Marnoch at Edinbrugh, early 19th century. The Tamga on the thigh of the horse is easily visible. A tamga (tamhga, damga) is an abstract seal used by Turks as the emblem of a particular tribe.
