After two successful season long stints in Ibiza in 2014 and 2015, not to mention some very special appearances at clubs like Ministry of Sound, celebratory club night Glitterbox is about to embark on its most ambitious year to date.
At the start of May we release our third compilation, Glitterbox Ibiza 2016, selected and mixed by Defected records head and Glitterbox resident Simon Dunmore. Simon's depth of knowledge, attained over three decades of collecting soul, disco and house music, helps shapes Glitterbox's soundtrack and is showcased perfectly on the compilation.
Helping to launch the compilation, we host our first Glitterbox party of the year on 7th May, returning to Ministry Of Sound, London with Basement Jaxx, The Shapeshifters, Aeroplane and John Morales among the guest DJs. In keeping with all of Glitterbox's events, each DJ has been carefully selected for our tried and tested ability to move an audience like Glitterbox's, who rightly deserve a special effort.
Then, later in May, we programme our own Glitterbox arena on the opening night of the award-winning We Are FSTVL, on the outskirts of London. DJs Todd Terry, Joey Negro, Roger Sanchez, Norman Jay and Simon Dunmore plus vocalist Barbara Tucker are just some of the names that will help add that special Glitterbox vibe to the festival on 28 May.
At the start of June we begin our third season-long Glitterbox stint in Ibiza and are extremely proud to have been chosen by Space to host the legendary Terrace area on the Friday nights of the club's final season in Ibiza. For 16 weeks regular Glitterbox contributors Basement Jaxx, Todd Terry, Kenny Dope, Dimitri From Paris, Joey Negro, Roger Sanchez and Simon Dunmore will entertain the masses at what is simply one of the best clubbing spaces in the world.
Uninhibited, vibe setting dance crews will also be returning to the Terrace every Friday, as will one of Ibiza's most enthusiastic and most diverse club audiences. At the start of July we hold our second UK Glitterbox club date of the year, this time in Bristol and on August's second weekend we will travel to Croatia for the first time, curating a Glitterbox night at the inaugural, 5 day long Defected Croatia Festival in Tisno, Dalmatia.
23 September sees the Glitterbox closing party at Space in Ibiza, drawing the summer season to a close, but expect some more additions to this existing line up as we set out on our busiest and boldest year to date, determined to welcome you to this unforgettable clubbing experience.
