Lucky escape for pedestrian as out-of-control car careers off the road

A Chinese pedestrian had a very lucky escape recently when a driver lost control of his vehicle and careered off the road.
Dramatic security camera footage shows the pedestrian walking along a pavement in Jingzhou City in Hubei Province on June 12.
Suddenly, the car veers off the road at high speed towards the pedestrian, taking a tree with it.
The pedestrian somehow manages to dodge out of the way as the vehicle slams into parked cars.
The driver climbs out of the vehicle, briefly surveys the damage and then runs from the wreckage.
Police are investigating the incident.
