싱가포르서, 북미정상회담 테마 음식으로 평화의 메시지 전달
The summit between the leaders of North Korea and the U.S. inspired a slew of fusion dishes in Singapore... with locals and visitors alike eager to give them a try.
Like the leaders themselves, the combinations might not be for everyone,... but chefs in the host city-state seemed to have fun putting the dishes together.
Our Oh Soo-young introduces us to what was on offer.
Nothing says harmony like a perfect blend of clashing, but complimentary flavors.
Soft yet flavorful dry-aged U.S. beef meets the crunchy spiciness of Kimchi -- coming together in a nasi lemak,... one of Singapore's favorite dishes.
The unlikely combination represents the historic meeting of two fiery personalities -- U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
Locals and visitors to Singapore were lining up to give it a try.

"We came here because of these two guys. Something different, something unqiue. I would say this is something interesting."

Ahead of the landmark summit, restaurants in Singapore, traditionally known for their exotic fusion dishes,... rustled up menus inspired by Trump and Kim,... everything from fried rice to gourmet burgers.

"Since we have come out with this menu, our sales have improved 20-30 percent. Our ration is about 30 to 40 people order per day."

One particular burger joint is looking beyond the hype of the summit,... and promoting a message of harmony between North Korea and the U.S.

"It's the most basic necessity in life. Despite difference cultures and mindsets. So I hope this burger will help the mood of President Trump and Chairman Kim."

Visitors say they are "feeling the peace," with each bite of the burger,... filled with the Korean-style marinated beef called bulgogi... and topped off with plenty of American cheese.

"I'm definitely feeling the peace. People sit together and eat the same food. That's how you make peace because you know it's not poison. So you have to eat together."

Peace on the Korean Peninsula,... and around the world, may require coming to the table for talks, but also rushing to the table for some delicious food as well.
