Who The F*ck Is: RuPaul?

Time to answer the one question that’s been at the front of everyone’s mind: Who the f*ck is RuPaul? The world’s most iconic drag queen made her television debut on Atlanta Public Access TV in the 1980s, looking way, way different than the radiant being we now know. After that, RuPaul moved to New York City and became a mainstay in the queer nightlife scene. Her big break came in 1991 with the release of ‘Supermodel of the World,’ which lead to a sh*t ton of cameos including guest-star spots on, ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch,’ ‘The Brady Bunch Movie,’ and ‘Sister, Sister,’ to name a few. Mama Ru landed ‘The RuPaul Show’ on VH1 in 1996, and the cable television crowd finally got a taste of queer culture and all of Ru’s glamazonian fierceness. That paved the way for the launch of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ in 2009 which has quickly become an iconic part of today’s pop culture - Drag Race even got a shout out from ‘Saturday Night Live’ when Chris Pine hosted. Most importantly, Ru’s taught the world some valuable lessons about self-love and, of course, workin’ it.
