Wales players Hal Robson-Kanu, Andy King and Ben Davies spoke on Wednesday (June 8th) ahead of their team's Euro 2016 opener against Slovakia on Saturday (June 11th).

Wales forward Hal Robson-Kanu is confident he will fully recover from his leg injury before the team’s first match of Euro 2016 against Slovakia in Bordeaux on Saturday.

Speaking a few hours after the team’s first training session in the Brittany town of Dinard, the team's French home base during the tournament, Robson-Kanu said on Wednesday: "I think, personally obviously I’m a fit player. I’ve got good levels of fitness and I’ve been training well the last few weeks. Obviously picked up a bit of a knock. which obviously I don’t want but I’ve been training the last few days and in the build up to the game I think I’ll be, as I said before, 100 per cent fit."

Wales want to move on from last Sunday's 3-0 friendly defeat against Sweden in Stockholm.

Wales midfielder Andy King explained: "This is one that we really have to put behind us now and come out all guns blazing. We’ve got something to prove now. Where people thought, you know, we might be cruising going in the tournament, we’ve had a blip. And it’s probably better that this has gone before the tournament than in the first game."

Defender Ben Davies said the team was "delighted to be here". "We’ve waited a long time to be here", the Tottenham player added, “and we’re going to make the most of it.”

Hal Robson-Kanu conveyed the excitement of his fellow teammates ahead of Saturday’s match: "We’re all looking forward to it. It’s a new experience for all of us: a major tournament in the summer. But one that we are relishing and I think that if we apply ourselves correctly and we show the level of commitment that we’ve had in qualifying, we'll do well."

After Slovakia, Wales will meet England on 16 June and Russia on 20 June as part of the Group B phase.
