Billed as The Battle of the Ages, Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield takes on Big George Foreman, as Holyfield makes the first defense of his WBC, WBA and IBF Heavyweight titles which he won by knocking out James Buster Douglas in 1990. Douglas was making the very first title defense of the above mentioned titles after winning the titles by knocking out Mike Tyson in Tokyo, in a 42-1 upset a few months earlier. An upset that is widely considered to be the biggest in boxing, and some even consider it the biggest upset in sporting history. \r

Holyfield was still undefeated at this point with a record of 25-0. While the veteran Foreman who was in his second career was 69-2. There is a huge disparity both in age and weight in this fight, as Foreman is 14 years older than Holyfield and weighed in at 257 pounds against Holyfields 208 pounds, a difference of about 50 pounds!\r

In 1987,Big George made a surprising comeback from the sport after retiring for 10 years with his last fight being a loss to Jimmy Young via unanimous decision in 1977. Since his comeback, Foreman racked up a record of 24-0 before facing Holyfield, with notable wins over Bert Cooper, Gerry Cooney and Adilson Rodriguez. This fight against Holyfield was his first big fight in his second career.\r

Holyfield entered the bout as a 3-1 betting favorite against Foreman. Prior to this fight, Holyfield had wins over Alex Stewart, James Douglas, James Tillis, Pinklon Thomas and Michael Dokes since moving up to the heavyweight division. He was undefeated as a Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight.\r
