U.S. court orders Samsung Electronics to pay $539 million to Apple for patent infringement

A U.S. court ordered Samsung Electronics to pay a total of 5-hundred-39 million dollars to Apple in compensation for design patent infringement.
A California court made the ruling Thursday, some seven years after the patent battle between the two giants broke out.
Apple sued Samsung for "slavishly" copying its smartphone and tablet technology in 2011, and had originally demanded one billion dollars in compensation.
With the latest ruling, the Korean tech titan will have to pay around 1-hundred-40 million dollars, as Samsung had previously paid 3-hundred-99 million for some of the patents included in the case.
While Apple is content with the decision... Samsung is considering all options to challenge the ruling.
