Chinese business jet skids off runway during training flight

This is the dramatic moment a Chinese plane skids off the runway, causing severe delays for more than 700 passengers at Yangzhou Taizhou International Airport.

CCTV video captured on May 20 shows the Gulfstream G200 Galaxy plane operated by Star Jet dangerously veering off to the left of the runway onto grass while landing during a training flight.

The plane then goes over a turning pad. The plane's nose turns, making it head to the right. It then goes across the runway and comes to a halt on the right-hand side of the runway

Another video from the ground shows the damaged jet, which has come to a halt around 90-metres away from the centre of the runway.

The plane's landing gear and wings were reportedly damaged. A rear wheel also came off the plane because of a mechanical failure, Chine media said.

More than 100 rescue vehicles and 100 ground rescuers arrived at the scene, local media said.

Four fire engines sprayed foam to cool down the plane and four airline crew members were quickly evacuated.

No one was injured, but more than 700 passengers were stranded in the airport as more than ten flights were delayed.

An investigation is underway.
