Batman’s motorcycle? Batmobile? No, this is the Indian Chief Dark Horse, so dark, yet reflects so much of style and chic. Indian Motorcycles is part of the Polaris group of the US and in India is brought to us by Polaris India. The Dark Horse is basically a cruiser and is easy to ride, unless of course you want to take one of those tight corners. It’s got a pretty huge turning radius, keeping in mind its mammoth girth. The bike’s got a dry weight of 357kg. It has a ground clearance of 140mm, a height of 1176mm with an overall width of 1025mm. When you saddle yourself on its vinyl seats which are part of the standard equipment, the height is 660mm, good enough for an average Indian rider to plant his two feet on the ground. While the wheel base is 1730mm, the overall length of the Dark Horse is 2630 mm.
It’s black everywhere you look and that includes the wheels, forks, handlebars, engine, bodywork – even the Warbonnet up front. This iconic Warbonnet that is mounted atop the front fender in a blacked-out frame lights up every time you press the start button and stays lit throughout your journey.
The bike comes with acoustically engineered dual exhausts that eliminates high-pitched sounds, the fuel tanks carries the distinctive monochrome Warbonnet graphics and not to forget the iconic valenced fenders, standard since 1940. The bike has classy instrumentation that includes a tank mounted electronic speedometer with odometer and electronic fuel gauge with low fuel led indicator ; dual tripmeters; digital tachometer; ambient air temperature; fuel range; average fuel economy; battery voltage; gear position display; real-time clock; low engine oil pressure; and 9 LED telltale.... The tank has two fuel tank caps for the symmetrical styling. While one is for real, the other is just a dummy to up the style quotient!
The Dark Horse is powered by the trusted Thunder Stroke 111 V-Twin engine with an 1811cc capacity? It comes with ABS for both front and rear wheels.
As optional accessories the company offers a lot of add-ons to the bike. One can add cargo carrying space quickly and easily by installing a One-Up Luggage Rack. The Luggage Rack bolts directly onto the Indian Motorcycle in place of the passenger seat and provides a convenient place to securely attach the cargo. This is the ideal feature for those men who love to ride solo all their lives. Other extra features include blacked out fender trim, Fishtail Exhaust Tips, etc.
