Although these guys look fierce and dangerous, theyre completely harmless to humans. These are found only about as far as 16000 feet below water but are more commonly spotted around 700 feet. It grows to a maximum length of 12 inches and vary in color from jet black to pale red depending on lighting. Its not really sure how they get the name vampire squid, considering that they dont suck the blood of their enemies but the most terrifying thing about this squid is its bizarre appearance and their strange tentacles. But they do enjoy a nice large meal once they do eat. These bottom dwellers live about 7000 feet deep, possibly even deeper and enjoy the muddy seafloor as shelter.
