Worlds Fastest Traxxas X-Maxx udluuz new HUGE 8 inch foam tires. Unboxing from Rick Seffrood of Gone Bananas Racing Skinz. Wanted to try a more taller tire from the original 6.50 inch 35 shore prototype with a 8.00 inch height and harder shore compound. As far as the harder compound I thought it was a 40 or 42 shore, but later verified from Rick they were 45 shores. The 8 inch other than being close to the stock height of the original X-Maxx tires the weight was substantially heavier with the 45 shores compared to the 6.50 in. 35 shores. I did not have something to weigh the 8 inch foams but from the feel they were just as heavy but slightly less compared to the stock X-Maxx rubber tires/wheels. \r

When testing the taller tires over this past weekend, anything past 75mph the front tires started to shake left to right sometimes violently which almost caused me to crash in the same area as my first X-maxx crash video. When I switched back to the 6.50 inch foams the side to side shaking stopped. I put back the 8 inch foams and tried to figure out the problem. I turned down the TSM all the way to off, I removed the T-Bone bumper thinking the wind was bouncing off the bumper hitting the tires causing them to shake, but no luck. \r

Later that evening when I got home I notice the 6.50 foams I had balance the tires and rims with putty and not the 8 inch. I also inspected all the wheel bearings and found 3 bad bearings and a cracked rear right hub carrier. I also notice the stock x-maxx steering linkage has a lot of side to side play. I have since balanced all the 8 inch wheels/tires, replaced all the wheel bearings with Fast Eddys bearings, new right rear hub carrier, and ordered Hot Racing aluminum steering linkage to hopefully minimize the steering slop. \r

Although the 6.50 inch foams is doing its job by giving me my personal best of 83mph to date, I really like the look of the 8 inch and I am determined to make this new set work. The 8 inch foams looks perfect for the truck and hoping to get a little more mph with the taller tire. Hopefully these new fixes will solve my problems. Stay tuned for more testing this weekend.\r

If anyone is interested in purchasing a set of these foam tires cont Rick Seffrood of Gone Bananas Racing Skinz email address: gone_banana_racing_skinz@yahoo.com\r
Rick can make any custom foams of any size and shore (soft/hard compound). The widest width he can go on a stock X-Maxx rim is 4 inches. I purchased my own stock rims and drop shipped to him. He then orders the foam, mounts the foams, applies the adhesive, and cuts the foam on a lathe to give its final shape. These are all done by hand from Rick so it will take some time for him to do. \r
The shores are:\r
35 softer compound \r
40 med/hard compound\r
45 hard compound\r

*NOTE* These foams are made for on road streets only that are fairly clean from debris of rocks, twigs, etc. If you drive these over any type of road reflectors you will run the risk of ruining the foams or even opening up a seam.
