The department of telecommunications (DoT) on 1 May floated a draft policy - Telecom Policy India or telecom policy 2018, with a target of attracting investments of $100 billion in digital communications. A lot has changed since India’s last telecom policy in 2012. The country now has the world’s second largest internet subscriber base and is seeing technological shifts in digital communications. India’s mobile data consumption is already the highest in the world. At the current pace of digitization, it is estimated that India’s digital economy has the potential to reach $1 trillion by 2025
