Facebook to give Tinder competition with "dating" feature

Mark Zuckerberg announced on Tuesday that Facebook will soon rollout a “dating” feature to his 2.2 billion user community. Zuckerberg said that the platform will be for building “real, long-term relationships” and not just for hook-ups. And it won’t show you any of your friends but people you aren’t connected to. The model is similar to Tinder’s where it connects to your Facebook community and shows you people who aren’t on your friend-list. Since the announcement, the stock of Match Group, the parent company of Tinder and OkCupid, fell by 17 percent. The dating feature will also be integrated into the groups and events on Facebook which a person attends and can find people going to the same event and start conversations with them. It’ll have full page photos and the chat feature will be different from Messenger and WhatsApp.
