Jimmy Conwell - Too Much

Jimmy Conwell, the enigmatic and mysterious Los Angeles soul singer, performs his classic Blackpool Mecca anthem, called "Too Much". This record was also recorded as "Betting On Love" by Len Jewell, with a different melody but the exact same backing track. This was yet another legendary Northern Soul smash, that we filmed for "The Strange World Of Northern Soul". Jimmy also recorded under another name, Richard Temple, and we also filmed him as his alter ego, singing his absolute Northern Soul anthem, "That Beatin' Rhythm" which you can find on my YouTube Channel. Richard Temple was a pseudonym for Jimmy Conwell, a famed West Coast 1960's soul legend, and this backing track was used on at least three other Northern Soul records too. I found my copy in a Goodwill store in Flagler Street in Miami, and brought about ten copies of it back to England in 1973. "Too Much" was first recorded in 1967 and we recut it in 1998 when we were filming our massive documentary about the entire history of the Northern Soul scene.
