The Volcanos - Storm Warning

Here is an example of the Northern Soul smashes that we filmed for the documentary "The Strange World Of Northern Soul". Sung by The Volcanos and is a fantastic piece of classic 1960's Philly Soul which will take you right back to the days of the Blackpool Mecca! This is The Volcanos, who, as all Philly fans will know, went on to become The Trammps, with whom I had the pleasure of personally cutting five songs. We first worked with them to make our 1992 remake of the Philly classic, "Hold Back The Night" which you can find here on my YouTube channel. I cut another four tracks with them, that one, along with "Feet Don't Fail Me Now", "Conversation", "My Love Is Free" and "Ten Per Cent". Six years passed and we then asked them to reform the line up of the original Volcanos, which included brothers Doc and Harold Wade, singing "It's Against The Laws Of Love" and also this track "Storm Warning". This song, as well as "It's Against The Laws Of Love" still sounds great but has been much forgotten and neglected over the years. It was a piece of Motownesque joyful exuberance on the Arctic label, owned by Jamie/Guyden Records, from 1966, that golden year. It's a fine piece of Northern Soul that you could ever wish to hear. And the very quintessence of the mid Sixties.
