This is The Montclairs, featuring the amazing legend Phil Perry, singing their stomper of a Northern Soul anthem, "Hung Up On You Love".This record, along with The Carstairs "It Really Hurts Me Girl", changed the whole soul scene in 1974 when they became the two biggest records in Blackpool Mecca, and resulted in new seventies music being accepted. Back in 1999, after a lot of searching, we tracked down Phil Perry to re-sing his classic, which he also wrote, to make this one and only performance especially for us, for our ground breaking Encyclopaedia Britannica of Northern Sould. Jerry "Swamp Dogg" Williams filmed this for us in Leon Haywood's studio in early 1999 in Los Angeles. We had already covered the song with Brenda Holloway, so even had the backing track all ready for Phil to sing.
