Rose Battiste, singing her absolute Northern Soul anthem, "Hit And Run" for our huge documentary "The Strange World Of Northern Soul". I was a teenager when I found this record in a shop in Miami in 1969 and took it to the Twisted Wheel, where it received its first ever Northern Soul plays. It was my first ever really big discovery. This was first recorded in 1966 and we recut it in 1998. As all Northern Soul aficionado will know, legendary Detroit songbird, Rose Battiste, was on the Revilot label, as was this classic "Hit And Run". Fans back in the 1970's were unsure whether Rose Battiste had ever recorded this song and it remained unissued. Well it transpired that she never did. So in 1998, when she flew over to appear at the Blackpool Mecca Reunion, we decided to re-write history. We took her straight into the studio and for the first time ever, Rose sang that song. She performed it at the Reunion alongside her massive floorfilling anthem, and here it is, with priceless footage from that weekend.
