Noel McKoy - My Claim To Fame

Noel McKoy sings the James Wells classic hit song, "My Claim To Fame". The song is a combination of Disco and Northern Soul at its scintillating best. I have previously cut six songs so far with this amazing singer, and this is the seventh, for my album "Yesterday And Tomorrow". This utterly amazing version of my 1978 US Disco chart topping classic, "My Claim To Fame", is the perfect re-make of a hit which ended up being appraised, in Billboard Magazine, as the fourth biggest Disco hit of the entire year of 1978. Noel McKoy is probably the greatest real true soul singer living in England at the moment. He reminds me of a cross between Bobby Womack and David Ruffin, and his voice gives me goosebumps. We first cut three tracks on him in 2006, "Determined Man", "Read Between The Lines", and "Shadow Of A Dream". Noel really is a singer from the school of soulful story telling and social commentating, who writes from the heart and delivers from the soul. Noel McKoy's raw rasping texture from the pen to the acoustic style of production gives the dynamic sound that will take you on a voyage of human emotion. It is no surprise that Noel Mckoy's artistic development is inspired from the legendary greats such as, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Isley Brothers to name just a few. It would be closer to home, which would encourage him to sing. It was his mother and auntie who set him off in the right direction of singing and performing at the young age of 12. Then going on to record his first track at the age of 14. By 18 he was mastering the art of song writing and playing guitar but it would be at a later age of 24 that he would be part of a band named 'Mckoy' which, consisted of sister Junette and two brothers Cornell and Robin. The early 90's gave birth to the sound of Acid Jazz and Noel Mckoy was fronting the legendary band James Taylor Quartered and also collaborating with 'Omar' and 'Incognito'. Noel Mckoy is without a doubt one of Britain's most critically acclaimed Soul Singers, he has toured the world with several UK & International acts including the likes of Womack & Womack, Roy Ayes, Gladys Knight, George Clinton and Linton 'Kwesi' Johnson.
