FRISCO, TEXAS – On the opening of Day 2 of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys held a press conference at the Star in Frisco with their new first round pick, Leighton Vander Esch in attendance, discussing his role in the defensive scheme.
Vander Esch arrived by helicopter and took in the trophies and rings on display in the atrium. He stated, “it was hard to put into words but it is an awesome place.” Vander Esch’s dreams of being a linebacker in the NFL have come true and the impact of the moment shown on his face as he looked around his new home in Dallas.
Vander Esch remarked on his experience “ I am so thankful for this to be my home. It has been a whirlwind but the best one of my life. This is where I have wanted to be since the beginning of this journey. When Dallas, TX popped up on my caller ID, I had to take a deep breath as I realized my dream was coming true.”
