South Korea's consumer sentiment dropped for a fifth consecutive month in April,... marking the longest downward slide on record.
The Bank of Korea says the composite consumer sentiment index fell to 107-point-one, the lowest level in a year.
The central bank attributed the fall to growing concerns over trade disputes between the United States and China,.. as well as the stagnant employment market and the strong local currency.
The reading, however, is still above 100,... which means optimists outnumber pessimists.
The central bank said a positive outcome from inter-Korean summit would likely boost consumer sentiment.
