Working-level officials from South and North meet in Panmunjom Monday morning

This week is a crucially important one for us here in Korea... and others around the world,... as the leaders of the two Koreas will hold their historic summit on Friday,... a potentially huge step toward a diplomatic solution to the North Korea issue.
And today,... working-level officials from both sides are starting a third round of talks to finalize the summit arrangements.
We connect to our Cha Sang-mi at Seoul's Presidential Office for more details.
Sangmi, we are just a few days away from the summit,... so officials are just in the process of making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible...

Good morning Mark, yes, the working-level officials from Seoul and Pyongyang have just sat down together, at 10AM Seoul time, kicking off their third round of talks in Panmunjom.
This meeting comes after Pyongyang reached out first on Sunday:

"Today, North Korea proposed that we hold a meeting of working-level officials tomorrow to discuss security, protocol and media coverage. They proposed holding it at Tongilgak, on the North Korean side of Panmunjom, and we accepted."

The two sides are known to be discussing the exact time and manner in which President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will meet -- also whether they will hold a joint press conference.
There's a chance the two sides could hold another high-level official meeting before the summit; which is to be confirmed after Monday's working-level talks.

Following North Korea's offer to hold talks, President Moon convened an urgent final closed-door meeting on Sunday afternoon, to review the agenda of the summit with his Chief Secretary, National Security Adviser, National Intelligence Service Chief, and the Unification Minister.

Back to you, Mark.

Thank you, Sang-mi.
