Former President Park first trial on involvement in public recommendation

Jailed former President Park Geun-hye faces a new trial, beginning today, over her alleged intervention in the public recommendation process.
Park, who was sentenced to 24 years in prison for 16 offences in her first trial earlier this month, will be called in to court, over the offence of intervening illegally in the Saenuri party public recommendation process for the 2016 National Assembly election.
The former president rejected the new accusation, saying that she had never given such orders.
Unlike her past trials, this is an official trial date that requires her to be present.
Yet, there is a high possibility that Park will refuse to turn up to the trial, as she boycotted her previous trials.
