2016 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 Trail Premium Test Drive Video Review

There is no mistaking the Toyota 4Runner for a soft edge wanna be SUV. Instead, the 4Runner is one of the last true body-on-frame SUVs that are built to handle the tough stuff. Prices range from $34,010 for the base model SR5 4x2 all the way up to $44,360 for the Limited 4x4. The model tested here has a MSRP price of $39,595.\r

When it comes to the competition, there is not much out there. Some vehicles that can be considered are the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, the Chevy Tahoe, and the GMC Yukon. But there are not any really affordable options. Under the hood is a 4.0 liter V-6 engine that makes 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy for the 4x4 model is 17 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway.\r

The Trail Premium includes part-time AWD with Active Trion Control, Locking Rear Differential, All-Terrain Select, and Crawl-Control. This tester was also equipped with the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) which is a $1750 option.\r

The 2016 Toyota 4Runner remains a top choice for those who need to deal with demanding road conditions. \r
