Paul Ryan Endorses Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker

House Speaker Paul Ryan wants House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy to succeed him.
According to Speaker Ryan, he prefers McCarthy to Majority Whip Steve Scalise, adding that GOP leadership thinks McCarthy is the right person for the position.
Speaker Ryan will not seek re-election, and has chosen to retire at the end of his current term, which will leave a vacancy for the Speaker of the House.
On NBC's Meet the Press, Ryan publicly offered his endorsement for McCarthy.
