Shinawatra sacked as Thai prime minister

The removal of Yingluck Shinawatra as prime minister over alleged abuse of power was widely expected, but is likely to further highlight the rift in Thai society between government supporting 'red shirts' from the north of the country and opposition 'yellow shirts' from Bangkok and the south.
