According to the first film's writer, Stephen Strange will be battling Nightmare in Marvel's Doctor Strange 2. Doctor Strange was a moderate success at the box office in 2016, but Marvel is being wary on confirming anything involving Doctor Strange 2. According to a Q&A with Robert Cargill, he confirmed that Nightmare, the ruler of the Nightmare Realm and Dream Dimension is going to be the villain for Doctor Strange 2.
