High levels of fine dust to ease slightly this afternoon _ 032618

Let's start with the polluted air.
It's so bad that the authorities here in Korea are taking emergency measures to try and protect the population from the ultra-fine dust... (which we'll get to in a moment...)
Levels of PM two-point-five, the finest diameter dust that can penetrate deep into the lungs,... are topping 50 micrograms per cubic meter almost everywhere,… with Seoul seeing 100/150-plus.
Braving the dust to give us an update,...we have our Lee Jee-hyun standing by at Seoul's Sadang Station.
Jee-hyun, it's still looking really bad out there,... what can we do to protect ourselves?

Good morning, Mark.
Yeah, the air quality is still terrible unfortunately.
I've only been seeing a few people wearing face masks on their way to work.
I can't emphasize enough how important is to wear a face mask today to protect yourself from the ultra-fine dust.
Those of us in Seoul have been dealing with the season's highest levels of fine and ultra fine dust since yesterday with an ultra fine dust advisoryin place since Saturday evening...

Air quality will improve a bit as we head into the afternoon, but be sure to check the levels before heading out.

Beijing also has unhealthy levels of fine dust,... while Tokyo is having moderately high levels, with both capital cities expected to have warm afternoon highs.

Daily highs will be warm under sunny skies, Seoul getting up to 17 degrees, Busan and Chuncheon at 19 degrees.

Some foods that can help our bodies fight the fine dust are broccoli, mackerel, and seaweed, so you might want to have a combination of these food for lunch today
